Robert Trent Jones II

The design of the 27 hole championship course and the 9 hole Academy Course was placed in the hands of one of the world’s most respected golf course architects, Robert Trent Jones II.
Two generations of golf course architects
The famous golf course architectural firm, Robert Trent Jones II, have designed and constructed golf courses all over the world. Over two generations this has amounted to more than 230 golf courses on six continents and in 38 countries. These include golf projects such as the Moscow Country Club, the first 18-hole golf course in Russia, the Spring City Resort in the Yunnan province in China, and Miklagard, the first world-class course in Scandinavia.

Courses in harmony with nature

Golf enthusiasts all over the world know that the Trent Jones name is synonymous with top-class golf courses. There was one particular factor for choosing Robert Trent Jones II instead of many other capable golf course architects. Every time Trent Jones has designed a new course in the past 35 years, the existing vegetation and natural terrain has been preserved to the greatest extent possible. The firm has sensitively and creatively designed courses that are fully integrated with the surrounding countryside. Hence, it is largely nature’s own obstacles that create the challenges for the players – no matter where in the world the firm has worked. Recent examples of Robert Trent Jones II’s environmentally friendly approach to golf course design include the Penha Longa course in Portugal and Celtic Manor in Wales, which is the venue for the Ryder Cup in 2010.

No room for improvement – except on your handicap

Chairman, Robert Trent Jones II has said the following about the area in which Lübker Golf Resort® has been constructed. “The area itself has tremendous variety and character, complete with woodland areas, existing lakes and streams, and wonderfully folding and rolling topography.” Nature provides Lübker Golf Resort® with an added bonus, the area is covered by a thick layer of shifting sand, reminiscent of the Scottish links, which are also laid out on sand. The sandy substratum provides ideal drainage conditions and a superb playing turf. According to Chief Design Officer Bruce Charlton from Robert Trent Jones II, there are very few places in world with such a perfect foundation for a golf course. In the large and varying natural terrain, the course architects have designed three 9 hole loops in a clover-shaped formation which together form a 27 hole championship golf course, plus a 9 hole Academy Course.

The first and largest on Danish soil

As an integrated part of the course, the residential properties with their exclusive architecture make Lübker Golf Resort® a fantastic place to stay. The combination of superb holiday homes, a luxury resort and a golf course constructed by Robert Trent Jones II has been very successfully accomplished in other parts of the world, but never before on Danish soil. This makes Lübker Golf Resort® a genuine pioneering project within Danish golf and leisure resorts.

“Our work will hopefully help to set new standards for golf courses in Denmark. We are delighted to participate as pioneers of this concept in Denmark.”
