Lübker Golf Named Denmark’s Best Course – for the Third Time

The World Golf Awards has for the second year in a row – and the third time in four years – named the DP World Tour course at Lübker Golf Resort “Denmark’s Best Golf Course 2025”.

Excellence has no excuse. Lübker Golf Resort can rightfully conclude this, after the World Golf Awards once again named the DP World Tour course on Djursland Denmark’s best golf course in 2025. It happens for the second consecutive year – and for the third time within just four years! It looks like a Danish record that will be hard to beat. The World Golf Awards organisation honours each year the best golf courses, best hotels and best golf travel agencies based on nominations from users.

“We are of course proud of yet another splendid recognition. With all the awards we have been confirmed that at Lübker we have created a solid foundation which must now be built upon in order to optimise the quality of the whole resort. Earlier this year we became a member of European Tour Destinations – alongside 25 other international courses. That is of great importance for the experiences we can share. And I also naturally see the awards as the result of the great effort our employees put in, with strong engagement to maintain and nurture the course and deliver excellent service so that our guests get the optimal experience,” says resort owner Carl Aage Nielsen.

DP World Tour Course – perhaps soon again

As host venue for the Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour, Lübker in 2024 was both internationally recognised and promoted with worldwide TV transmission. It was an event that added extra prestige to both Lübker’s championship course and the rest of the resort as an attractive destination for both national and international elite and golf tourists in general. After the successful staging of the Danish Golf Championship, course owner Carl Aage Nielsen made no secret of the fact that a repeat of the DP World Tour at Lübker within a manageable timeframe is the goal.

At Lübker they view the latest of several awards as a sign of the golf course’s consistent quality, created by great passion and good teamwork, but also as a recognition of the entire resort and the holistic experience they have succeeded in creating for the many guests.

“Our Golf Course Superintendent, Spencer Opstrup Lloyd-Pye, delivers a world-class golf course whatever the season, which is quite impressive. This award is especially meaningful, because it is based solely on the guests’ experience of our facility. That we have received the prize three times in four years means a lot to our whole team – and we are at least as proud the third time as we were the first time. Moreover, of course it has strong marketing significance that we can officially call our course the country’s best,” emphasises Golf Manager Hans L. Knudsen.

Professionalism and determination keep the course at top level

As Golf Course Superintendent, Spencer Opstrup Lloyd-Pye takes the many commendations to heart and is pleased that every year Lübker Golf maintains its quality – also judged by international standards.

“It makes me and my team incredibly proud that Lübker Golf Course yet again is named Denmark’s best golf course. The relatively small team of 11 people, including myself, each deserve a big pat on the back. Not everyone in the team has gone through formal greenkeeper training, but the will and ability among all the team to learn and assimilate new knowledge in their day-to-day work makes the difference. Therefore it is a great satisfaction to see how the team develops year by year – and hopefully that development will continue for many years to come,” says Spencer Opstrup Lloyd-Pye.
